Meet the
Team

All that we do at Fusion is made possible by ordinary people putting up their hand to be part of the story. A community of dedicated and passionate people can indeed change the world.

Jesse
Team Leader

Jesse grew up in Fusion, with both his parents heavily involved and he has stayed around ever since. He completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honors) in 2004, is a pharmacist by trade and owns a number of pharmacies, while also working part time for Fusion. Jesse has a Diploma Youth & Community Work (Christian), Certificate IV Training and Assessment and is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor.
Jesse is married to Marie and has two young children. In his spare time he loves going to the beach, watching the cricket and spending time with his family.

Laurie
Youth Work and Volunteer Coordinator

Laurie is a born and raised Sunny Coast local who became involved in Fusion as a young person. She has stayed connected in various roles and parts of Australia since, working in Sydney with Fusion for a couple of years before getting married. She now lives on the Sunshine Coast with her husband, two dogs and her daughter Lucy. Laurie has completed a Bachelor Arts (Psychology & Youth Work) and is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor. She is passionate about social justice issues and caring for others. In her spare time, she is into photography, craft, and gaming but mostly playing with her very energetic toddler.

Nikky
Youth Worker

Nikky joined Fusion when she was just 18 years old. She has six siblings and was home-schooled by two wonderful parents. Nikky has a Diploma of Children’s Services, a Diploma of Youth & Community Work (Christian) and is currently studying a Diploma of Counselling. She is First Aid & Youth Mental Health First Aid certified.

Nikky aspires to help young people feel a sense of belonging, worth and purpose. She is passionate about people and has been volunteering in programs since the age of 12. Nikky is a creative soul who enjoys playing music, songwriting and taking care of her plants. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Andrew
Operations Manager

Andrew started as our Operations Manager in October 2023, following a short retirement after many years with the Queensland Government. He is responsible for the business operations of the Fusion office and our four Op Shops. He has a Diploma in Project Management and was responsible for the delivery of many capital works projects, plus Workplace Health & Safety, at many government locations across the Sunshine Coast. Andrew loves enabling other Fusion staff to make a difference by him taking care of the not-so-glamourous side of the business!

A long time Sunshine Coast resident, Andrew is married to Cheryl and they have two children Teah and Emi. They have a passion for nature and the environment, spending many hours maintaining their hinterland rainforest property, complete with a Japanese garden. They have a love of travel and are particularly fond of Japan, having been there 8 times! Outside of his work at Fusion,  Andrew spends many hours helping other musicians reach their full creative potential either in his home recording studio or encouraging them to perform at music events held on the family property.  He loves being able to help younger people build their self-confidence and firmly believes in the healing and nurturing power of music.

Katie
Youth Worker

Katie is a dedicated youth worker with Fusion Sunshine Coast, enjoying her work in early intervention programs that help young people build connection, confidence, and resilience. She is passionate about fostering safe and supportive environments where teens can thrive. Katie first connected with Fusion as a young person through the Pilgrimage to Uluru in 2019 and has been involved in Fusion programs ever since. She completed Fusion’s internship in 2023 as a Junior Intern while finishing Year 12.

She has a Certificate IV in Youth Work and is currently studying a Bachelor of Science, driven by a deep interest in genetics and a long-term goal of becoming a genetic counsellor — combining her love of science with her desire to support individuals and families through informed healthcare decisions.

In her spare time, Katie loves doing pottery, creating unique handmade ceramics thrown on the wheel and hand-painted with her own beautiful designs.

Lauren
Youth Worker

Lauren grew up as a homeschooled kid in Brisbane, before moving to the Sunshine Coast with her family at the end of 2019. She attended youth group and youth camps throughout all of her teen years, and saw what a difference it made having adults outside of her immediate circle investing into her wellbeing, which grew a passion to provide the same thing for the young people around her. Along with a collection of past retail & hospitality positions (including managing her church’s community cafe for almost 3 years) she has worked as an independent support worker with young NDIS clients since mid-2021, and has enjoyed years of volunteering in youth & kids ministry through her church and Scripture Union. She holds a Cert IV in Youth Work, has recently become First Aid and CPR trained, and is also currently studying a Cert IV in Education Support.

Lauren is a big fan of anything creative including singing, playing guitar, writing songs (sometimes releasing them) and playing around with dance styles and art projects. She also loves reading books, exploring pretty places around the coast and through a bit of solo travel, and spending time with loved ones. She is very excited to join the Fusion family!

Rubie
Jr Youth Worker

Rubie has been an active member of Fusion since Year 7, dedicating years to personal growth, community, and connection. A passionate lover of music and live concerts, Rubie finds joy and inspiration in the energy and creativity of the arts. In 2019, Rubie embarked on the unforgettable Uluru Pilgrimage, a journey that deepened her connection to culture, history, and the Australian landscape.

This transformative experience further fuelled her commitment to community and meaningful engagement. Continuing to grow within the Fusion family, Rubie successfully completed the Fusion Internship in 2024, marking a significant milestone in her journey of development and contribution. With a heart for music, community, and adventure, Rubie is dedicated to making an impact wherever she goes.

Sebastian
Jr Youth Worker

Sebastian is a passionate junior youth worker dedicated to creating safe, welcoming spaces for young people to thrive. With a strong belief in the power of mentorship, he is committed to teaching, inspiring, and guiding the next generation toward finding their own place in an often unpredictable world. He joined Fusion at the end of grade 11, and after completing an internship in 2024, he’s built a solid foundation in youth work and community building.

Outside of his work, Sebastian loves bouldering and staying active through regular workouts, fueling both his physical and mental resilience. With a heart for service and a desire to make a positive impact, Sebastian is focused on fostering growth, connection, and understanding within the youth he works with.

Hollie
Jr Youth Worker

Hollie grew up in Scotland and moved to Australia in Year 7, joining Fusion shortly after, and she’s been part of the community ever since. Over the past three years, she’s volunteered as a youth leader, helping run programs, camps and events that create safe, welcoming spaces for young people to connect, grow and be themselves. She’s currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Animal Ecology and is deeply passionate about wildlife conservation. Hollie runs Wild Blue Conservation, a not-for-profit organisation focused on protecting marine life and educating others about environmental issues.

When she’s not studying, leading or rescuing turtles, you’ll probably find Hollie playing soccer, hanging out with her pet lizard and snake, or getting lost in music. She brings creativity, care and a deep sense of purpose into all she does at Fusion.

Rhys, Mia, Cooper, Ruby
Interns

Meet our interns for 2025. This crew are taking the year to learn what leadership looks like, how to run programs and gain a glimpse into the world of being a youth worker. Each of them bring their own unique skills and perspectives that help create a great space for young people to connect, have fun and feel valued.

We are excited to see what these young leaders will do.
